Summer Outfit

Hi guys, it's Maddie from Classy and Clever ( I tend to blog about everything from outfits, to food, to my favorite things of the month.  If you like my post please make sure to check out my blog!

| Romper (similar) | Sandals | Sunglasses |

Is this romper not the cutest thing ever or what? It is actually my sisters, but it is only hers because she beat me to the rack. It is from Old Navy last year and boy did they hit the mark. It is super soft and comfortable. It is also really light which makes it perfect for the summer. I paired it with my jacks, which I happen to be in love with! I never thought that I would like them as much as I do. If you don't have a pair I would totally recommend getting one. The white color looks good with everything so I know I will get a lot of use out of them, and this outfit.

What color jacks do you like?

For this week's outfit, I went with a little more bold option!

These super fun and bright shorts are from Vineyard Vines! These are one of my favorite pair of shorts, besides my Lilly, because of the bright color. Not even the picture can capture just how bright and fun these shorts are!
If you are anything like me, you are a sucker for a good peplum top! This one is super cute because black and white stripes go with just about anything! I found this top at Marshalls, and it is by the brand Casual Couture by Green Envelope!
I paired this super fun outfit with the same pair of shoes from my last post, National Wear Lilly Day! Converse is just a great shoe to dress up or dress down! There are so many options!
Necklace: Etsy- CorasDen
Watch: Kate Spade
Bracelets: I actually made the beaded bracelet myself with this guide that I found on Pinterest! You can check out the tutorial here! The friendship style bracelet I bought, and the proceeds go back to many different causes!
Keep it fun and flirty ladies!!

I Created a Life I Love

I Created a Life I Love

Hey, everyone! My name is Ivy and I blog over at Perfectly Ambitious. I run a lifestyle blog dedicated to living, creating, and encouraging others to be perfectly ambitious. So when I heard about the She Can Network, I knew that I wanted to get involved!

As you guys know, the She Can blogger network’s motto is “She created a life she loves.” So, I thought what better topic to write about than how I created the life that I love!

Four years ago, I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism. It was an incredibly scary experience since I had no idea what was going on. I went in for my usual yearly physical and my doctor felt something wrong with my thyroid. I was immediately sent for an ultrasound where they ended up finding a goiter. After that, they sent me straight for bloodwork. I had to wait two weeks for the results and I spent that entire time thinking that I had throat cancer. When my doctor called me back to go over the results, he asked me “How are you standing?” Of course, I was confused. So, he then explained that I have an autoimmune disease and my numbers were so off the charts that I could have become fatally ill in the course of just a few more weeks. That’s when everything changed.

Since that moment four years ago, I have received more than ten other diagnoses. All of which are
incurable and can lead to more serious illnesses. A lot of my life has changed since those notes have
been added on to my medical charts. I have had to leave school and quit working. In the beginning, I was devastated.

However, these diagnoses were a blessing in disguise. I didn’t know it then, but they were the key to
living the life I love. I wrote a little bit about it in one of my previous posts, “Dear Chronic Illness, I Want to Say Thank You,” but I’ve got a little bit more to say.

Since leaving school and work, I have had a tremendous amount of free time. Sometimes, more than I
know what to do with, but that’s the biggest reason that I’ve been able to create a life that I love. I’m
able to spend my time working on the things that I’m passionate about, rather than the things society
has pressured me into doing. I was working a minimum wage job that I didn’t like while getting a degree that I would never use. In a roundabout way, my chronic illnesses saved me.

At the age of 21, I can honestly say that I am living a life that I love. Of course, I would enjoy it more
without the limitations of my illnesses, but part of me is still grateful that I have them. I own a house
with my husband, which we share with our three fur babies. I run a blog and an online business. I even started writing my debut novel and I’ve got an e-course in the works. These are all things that I’ve wanted to do, but never had the time to start working on any of them. Now I do!

I still have a long way to go before everything is as successful as I’d like it to be, but I’m incredibly
grateful for the life that I live. I think it’s so important to find our passion and work towards it. That’s
why I’ve created a free e-course on finding your focus. Like the She Can network, I want to be able to help others live the life that they love!

Do you know what it is that you want to accomplish in life? Let me know in the comments!

Things to Do This Summer

Summer is upon us and some of us have gotten or will get our Summer Vacation, I find every year I try do things but end up sleeping half my Summer away which I hope not to do this year because I know once as school starts again I won't have much time for any fun stuff. Here are a few ideas to things to do this Summer.

Do a Course

Whatever you're into there is bound to be a course on it and before you rush to your local town or city with your wallets out, you can do FREE online courses, there are plenty of websites from Code Academy to my personal favourite one, Alison. The reason I love Alison so much is it's free (yay for free) and also the courses are really easy to follow and the variety is huge from learning French to study skills. YouTube is also another great place to find courses especially if you want to learn an instrument.

Start a Blog

This one is kinda obvious as I know the majority of you reading this are Bloggers but if you need something to fill up your time with a blog does the trick between writing and editing posts to delving into the depths of HTML.

I love to read during the Summer, I find that I get through many books when I have the time and energy to read. GoodReads is a great website to find new books to read or update your Want To Read list, if you want a few ideas what to read check out my GoodReads account HERE. This Summer I want to reread the Harry Potter series after not reading it for five years, I know I won’t get all them read but I hope to get up to Prisoner of Azkaban!

Start a Scrapbook

Scrapbooking is a great way to keep photos from trips or other random excursions. I wanted to start one for a while now and on Sunday I decided to spend the whole day starting mine. It is so creative and I find it very relaxing. Here is one of the pages I did from when I went to Barcelona at the end of April.

Binge Watch Your Favourite Shows Or Movies

I think everyone has their favourite movies or TV series either on DVD or Netflix. I unfortunately don’t have Netflix, I know it’s terrible! I love watching shows like Greys Anatomy, Code Black, Criminal Minds, CSI and American Horror Story. Holidays are a great time to watch Harry Potter movies or over longer movie series, I know you sense I’m a Potterhead, if that's to watch all of them in 24 hours or over a few days.

I love scrolling through Pinterest and looking for DIYs, I normally don't have time to do them but I hope to do some during the Summer, I want to find some nice face mask DIYs. DIYs are great as they can take five minutes or seven hours.

Find a New Favourite Artist Through YouTube Or Spotify

Spotify is a great App for finding musicians that wouldn't be mainstream, there are plenty of playlists for different genres or a discover playlist. I love listening to a random playlist when I'm blogging as it gives a bit of background noise which I like and I normally start singing along. I currently discovered Emma Blackery on Spotify as her new EP came out and I think her music is awesome.

What are you going to do this Summer?
Thanks for being awesome,

Being a Morning Person

Hey, everyone! I’m Faith, the blogger over at Faith's Girly Life. I’m so excited to get the chance to
share a little piece of me today! So I'm a morning person- I admit it. I know it's rare to find one
as young as me- 19 years old and in college- but I've been a morning person for as long as I can
remember. And I really wanted to talk about what I believe it means to be a morning person. So
here it goes-Being a morning person means...

You think the morning light coming through the window is beautiful.
After so many hours of darkness, some bright sunshine coming through the window in the morning will always brighten my mood! I've always been someone who's weary of darkness- so I appreciate any natural light so much!

Sometimes you get more done before 11 am than you will the entire rest of the day.
I just love the days I eat breakfast, workout, shower, finish a writing assignment, and watch an
episode of Law & Order: SVU- all before 11am! After having such a productive morning makes a
productive afternoon so much easier too.

The thought of staying up past 11 pm makes you cringe.
Who really wants to be awake after that hour when you know you'll be up at or before 7 am
the next morning- not this girl! My life has too much going on to be running on such little sleep-
that just wouldn't be healthy at all!

You love going out for breakfast or brunch.
Who wouldn't love going to get biscuits, pancakes, or waffles with some friends! (Even though I
don't go out for breakfast or brunch near as often as I'd like to!) I actually celebrated my
birthday a few months ago with Sunday brunch- check it out here.

Morning workouts feel better than night/afternoon workouts.
My #workoutcomplete just feels so much more fulfilling when it's lunch time!

So are you a morning person? Are you a night owl? Let me know in the comments and be sure
to check out more from me over at Faith's Girly Life or any of my social media-

Finding Your Talents

Howdy y’all! My name is Alison and I blog over at Beauty & Blazers. Today I wanted to write about something that I’ve spent a lot of time thinking about lately - finding your talents.

I have never considered myself a creative person. I didn’t think I was good at any form of art or music and didn’t really have any talents other than the ability to binge watch an obscene amount of Grey’s Anatomy. However, at this point in my life I find I am invested in so many creative activities that my whole life basically revolves around them. I have a dadgum lot of talents.

Now, I don’t say that to brag on how many things I can do - it’s important to recognize that you are good at things and I think a lot of people ignore that to avoid sounding self-centered. The issue is, when you avoid praising yourself for your talents, you end up actually believing that you don’t have any, or miss out on opportunities to find out what you are good at.

In the span of around a year/ a year and a half, I went from believing I wasn’t talented at anything to being the owner of a blog and photography business, editor and designer of a yearbook publication, pianist, calligrapher, and (learning) watercolorist. I didn’t believe I had any creative talents - now I know that my personality is comprised of them.

A big part of my “journey” (for lack of a better word) to understanding my talents was when I joined Social Studies UIL. I’ve known my whole life that I wanted to be a teacher, but I always assumed I would go for younger kids or teach a reading/language arts class. After I took a World History class in 6th grade, I realized that I actually really enjoyed history so in 7th grade I decided to join the UIL team. I attended every practice and studied all the time on my own. When test day came around I ended up getting first place out of the whole district in a subject I didn’t even know I loved. That year was when I decided I wanted to be a historian. Three years later, I spend an (embarrassingly) large chunk of my time retweeting the Bill of Rights Institute and reading historical texts.

In terms of my creative skills mentioned above, it was a very similar process. I had a lowkey interest in each of them, tried them out, and found out that not only did I love them but was actually pretty good at them.

What I want y’all to take from this post is that it is as simple as trying something new to find what you want to spend the rest of your life doing. If you don’t get it the first time, try something else! I also want more people to understand that it is perfectly okay to consider yourself talented and praise yourself for those skills - just make sure you encourage others in their talents as well.

“I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that I am full well.” Psalm 139:14

Have a great day!

Graduation Gift Guide

It’s graduation season and that means it's time to start looking for a gift for the special person in your life. Whether it's your best friend, mentor, or your daughter, they all require the perfect gift for the right price. While it is easy to just write and send a check, it is much more meaningful to give the graduate something that is personal. I am graduating this year, and so I have compiled a list of things I would be so excited to receive from my friends and family.
Graduation Gift Guide.png
From left to right, top to bottom
Inspirational Print: I think a print with a fun quote is the perfect gift to congratulate them for graduating as well as encourage them in their future endeavors. They can put it in their room or even in their dorm room if they go off to college and think of you every time they see it.
Weekender Bag: This is a perfect gift for a parent or grandparent to give because it is a little more expensive. A good travel bag is great for spontaneous weekend trips with friends but also trips home from college. This bag is classic and something that the graduate will be able to have for many years.
Monogram Stationery: Stationery is always a go to for me because I think it is classic and something that people can always use. Especially as someone goes away to college or moves out on their own, they can always use some cute notecards to write to the people they love.
Daily Planner: I know not everyone is a planner lover, but if you know someone in your life that is very organized and loves to plan; a planner is a great gift. It’s a great way for them to start planning their new life after graduation. And perfect timing, the new Day Designer planners were just released TODAY!
Alex and Ani Bangle: I think one of these bangles is the perfect gift whether it is the graduation one specifically or another one that means something to the grad. It is a personal and thoughtful gift that they will have for a long time.
Best Friend Print: This is the perfect gift for your best friend if you guys are going to college in different states. It’s a super cute gift that your friends can put in their dorm and always remember you and your great friendship every time they see it!
Makeup Bag: A makeup bag is another just simple easy go to gift. I promise you girls never have enough of them. This one has a monogram which makes it personal and fun. Plus, if you want to add a little something extra you could put a gift card or a perfume roller ball inside!
Classic Tote: I think every girl needs a classic tote before going off to college, whether for late night studying in the library, toting around stuff for a sorority event, or for traveling. This one is super cute, and you can also personalize it with a monogram. This tote is classic and perfect for people of all styles.

What’s your go to graduation gift?
